AOC Archaeology finds new home at Springfield Mills

AOC Archaeology has moved into one of our premier Bostock Building units at Springfield Mills.

One of the largest archaeological companies in the UK has relocated their Leeds office to The Bostock Building as their base for UK wide geophysical surveys.

“Our new space here at Springfield Mills represents the growth of not only the Leeds office, but the company as a whole, which has seven national offices” says Chris Sykes, Leeds Operations Manager (Geophysics). “This move is designed to facilitate and assist in the development of the survey team. The spacious new unit also allows us the chance to accommodate all the different facets of archaeology, from consultation, survey and excavation, through to burgeoning technologies such as drone surveys and geo-arch analysis. It is a perfect central location with good links to the major arterial routes in Leeds, which is essential to help us survey, up and down the country.”

The ‘Community’ element of the move was also a key factor for the company – both wanting to be part of a business community but also making archaeology more visible and accessible. “On such a well-known historic site as Springfield Mills, with so many creative and varied businesses and visitors, and the excellent reputation of Gaunts and their on-site team to support us when necessary, it seemed the obvious choice for our new home and we have been welcomed with open arms by Paul and his team.” Chris added.

Paul Curson, MD at Gaunts Ltd, says ‘We’re delighted to welcome AOC Archaeology to Springfield Mills and to have Chris and the AOC team as the inaugural tenant in our brand-new modern development. It seems very fitting that we have a hi-tech team from a heritage company move into one of our new spaces at Springfield Mills and we look forward to seeing the work they do.”
