The Rainbow Factory in Farsley is an innovative storytelling-themed activity centre which aims to inspire a love of reading and encourages youngsters to use their imagination.

We are open every day except Tuesdays during term time and will be open seven days a week during the summer holidays.

The Rainbow Factory experience includes a magical tour of our unique handmade models, which bring scenes from classic stories to life. Children can then make their own Plasticine models with help from our master model-maker, get crafty in the creative kitchen, dress up and take to the stage to act out scenes from their favourite books, as well as listening to tales beneath the storytelling tree.

Sand, deck chairs, candy floss, seagulls and fish & chips…oh I do like to be beside the seaside – Do you?

Join us on the Farsley Promenade on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May (1 – 5pm), where Farsley Town Street will be transformed into the beautiful Yorkshire Coast to celebrate the sea side past and present; where we also hope to be setting a new World Record!

Each year the festival has grown and grown making it one of the liveliest and well attended events in the region.

Farsley Festival will kick off with our record breaking attempt of gathering the highest number of people in one place wearing knotted hankies on their heads – so bring your hanky down and help get Farsley in the Guinness World Book of Records!

There will be the usual variety of high quality entertainment, live music, arts, street performances, crafts and activities. In addition to this there will be the Farmers Market, a Makers Market and wide range of street food.

This year will see seven stages of music some of which will see the return of soulful blues performer Tom Attah ,classical comedy act Sid Bowfin and the UK’s finest beatbox trio Bloxed Beatz, whose fans include Jamie Cullum and Example.

For the first time St John’s Church will be used as a performance space and the successful ‘Trouble at Mill’ will hosting a stage at Sunny Bank Mills, so if you don’t usually manage to get tickets to the oversubscribed event, now is your chance.

Children are at the heart of Farsley Festival ,we will be again setting up our highly popular children's zone including a classic Punch and Judy show, sand sculptures ,inflatables and other activities to keep the little ones occupied.

The shops on Town Street will be decorating their windows, schools and local organisations will be getting involved and visitors are invited to bring a photo of them on their holidays to add to the wall of sea-side memories.

The Workhouse Gym reopened it's doors on Saturday 18th April after transferring from the old premises on site over the last 4 days.

The new gym has increased from 5,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet including a dedicated classes room for spinning , pilates etc.

In addition to the new space taken a crèche has been provided.

The gym includes new equipment both freestanding and cardio vascular.

The new facility was officially opened by Stuart Andrew the local Farsley MP and assisted by Ronnie The Rhino. Also in attendance was Councillor Andrew Carter.

The gym has been created in a 25,000 square foot building which was vacated last September and has been fully refurbished and will include other lettings in the near future including a café.

The Phoenix Works were visited by Patrick McLoughlin, the Secretary of State for Transport along with local MP, Stuart Andrew. They were there to discuss electric vehicle infrastructures and government policies regarding the electric vehicle industry. The Phoenix Works are market leaders in this growing sector and install charging solutions nationwide for commercial, domestic and public clients. Remember, there is a charging station on the Springfield Commercial Centre should anyone wish to use it just contact either Gaunts or The Phoenix Works.
